Trevor Birtch: Woodstock, Ont., mayor charged with additional sexual assault charges

Mayor Trevor Birtch of Woodstock, Ontario, faces new sexual assault charges. He has been charged with three new counts of sexual assault involving a different alleged victim, London police said Tuesday.

The charge is in response to a 2015 assault, according to CBC. The fresh allegations date back to January 2017 and as recent as April this year. Police said Birtch and the accuser are known to each other.

The mayor, Trevor Birtch, was first charged with sexual assault on February 2, this year involving another victim. Birtch, 46, was arrested with assault, sexual assault and sexual assault with choking. The charges against Birtch relate to incidents that took place between February 14 and December 13, 2021.

The mayor, Trevor Birtch, is taking a paid leave of absence after being charged with sexual assault relating to the first incident.

His next appearance in court on the most recent allegations is July 4.

London police have urged other possible victims or survivors of sexual abuse to contact them or other community partners for assistance.
