Ottawa police have charged a man with sexual assault and sexual interference with a person under 16 in connection with the incidents that occurred more than two decades ago in the home of a local piano teacher. The 41-year-old man charged was not the teacher but another resident of the home where the lessons were taught. The incidents alleged to have happened between October 1997 and June 2001 at an east-end home where piano lessons were taught.

Police started an investigation in February after the victim, who was under 14 when the incidents are alleged to have begun, came forward.

Investigators with the sexual assault and child abuse unit believe there could be other victims, police said. Anyone with information was asked to call them at 613-236-1222 ext. 5944. Tips may also be sent to SACA@ottawapolice.ca.
