CTV News reported that Hughbee Brown, a referee at high school volleyball games in Guelph, was charged with 14 counts of sex-assault reated charges.
Police say Hughbee Brown, 63, had inappropriate sexual physical touching and also made inappropriate comments to two 17-year-old girls while refereeing a high school volleyball game in March. Brown has been charged with seven counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference and five counts of sexual exploitation.
The Wellington Catholic District School Board and the Upper Grand District School Board released statements regarding the situation. The Waterloo Catholic District School Board said they are aware of the situation but cannot comment on private personnel matters.
Volleyball Canada declared that the referee who was involved in the confrontation is a member of their organization, but he will not be permitted to participate in any sanctioned events during the police inquiry.
CTV News reached out to the Waterloo Catholic District School Board and the Waterloo Police and both were able to confirm that they had not spoken to Brown.
